Common, yet rarely talked about.

The pelvic floor is the group of muscles and ligaments that supports the bladder, the uterus or prostate and the bowel, and plays a part in bladder and bowel control and sexual function. Pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, some surgeries, repeated physical strain or chronic pain can all affect how it works.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is one of the first recommended approaches for several of these conditions, such as stress urinary incontinence. It always starts with an individual assessment and follows a plan adapted to each person, working with the FACELAB medical team whenever needed.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

How we treat.

Physiotherapy assessment

A first appointment with your medical history and a postural, abdominal and pelvic floor assessment, to set goals and a tailored plan.

Manual therapy

External manual techniques and, when appropriate and with your consent, internal techniques, to release tension, ease pain and improve tissue mobility.

Biofeedback

Shows the contraction and relaxation of the pelvic floor muscles in real time, so you can learn to activate and coordinate them correctly.

Electrical stimulation

Low-intensity electrical stimulation that helps activate and strengthen the muscles or modulate pain, as part of the treatment.

Pregnancy and postpartum

Preparing the pelvic floor for childbirth and recovering afterwards, including assessment of abdominal separation and a safe return to physical activity.

Men's pelvic health

Treatment of urinary incontinence after prostate surgery, chronic pelvic pain and some male sexual dysfunctions.
